Seven Things to Be Thankful for This Time of Year
By Marsha Lindquist

As we hurry around this time of year getting ready for the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday, we often forget about some small but important things, we often take for granted. So to remind us of all that has been good for us during this year, my seven are here for your review.

1. Good people come in many disguises.
Our friends, colleagues, clients and relatives are pushed just like you and I. When that happens to any of us, we sometimes can get a little cranky.  Crankiness is a front for someone who needs a moment of relaxation, a chance to unwind or even a reason for someone to just listen.  Do that.  Be thankful that you can be there to listen and have these good people in your life.  Appreciate them in some small way.

2. Thank you communications.
It comes in the form of words, notes and generous faces. Grace those who have done something fine for you with a note or a call or a smile. It takes approximately 30 seconds to write a note of praise to someone. Surely you must have that much time each day.

3. Great clients.
While sometimes it seems like clients don't appreciate our hard work and concern for their issues, they are still great clients nevertheless. Tell them that.  Without their needs you wouldn't have a reason to be. Wow, there's a thought.

4. Prosperous times.
Yes, I know you think times are hard.  But these times are what you make of them.  So start carrying a positive mental outlook and I'll bet what you have looks pretty good. Look around you, who's got it better than you do?

5. Healthiness.
You exercise, eat right, and still your body isn't cooperating?  Keep at it and don't stop.  Be thankful that you pay some attention to your health and stop beating yourself up for some of the things you haven't accomplished yet for your "perfect" health.  Maybe look at what is different from last year at this time. Sure, reward yourself with a Thanksgiving morning walk or maybe stack that wood for the winter.

6. First-rate workmates
There is nothing better than the quality people you surround yourself with everyday. They are the reason you love going to work and (admit it) you stay to help out in a jam.  They know that and you do too. Support and applaud them.  If you nourish their camaraderie and their excellent work, they will do the same for you.

7. Fabulous family.
Without your family's support you couldn't go on sometimes.  They are the folks that keep the casserole warm in the oven when you are working late and the ones that seem to understand when you have to cancel a soccer game.  Be thankful that they are so understanding and stand by you in tough times. They are the ones who love you no matter what.
