Personal
Note
I've learned some more from Maya again. Because of the lessons
we learned this week and by applying them to our training, our
relationship has become closer just in that time. Gentle is best when
teaching her new behaviors.
What's different? All I do now is ask
her once for the desired behavior. Simply, I state the
request in one word.
Then I patiently wait for her response. Sometimes I get
immediate gratification and she gives me the asked for
action. When it's
a new feat to her, I usually get a delayed response. While time is passing
(mind you, it's only seconds) I can usually see the wheels
turning in her head.
The eyes give her away. She's thinking. The brows move about
some. She looks
at me and then looks at the end she wants and then looks back
at me. If I wait,
I get what I want - always. Sometimes I think she
is being German Shepherd stubborn and just testing to see if I
give in first.
But her Mom is no fool. I know it takes
enormous patience to see results of the kind I'm looking
for.
What am
I learning? It's
not always the fast path that gets me what I want. I want long term
habits that are not based on force and demands. I want the path that
gets me a relationship that is based on respect, confidence,
and knowing I'll be there - 100% of the time. If I slow it down and
give myself time to think and process during these moments of
patience practicing, I'm finding out a lot about me. I'm finding that I can
get what I want by simply making a request and waiting for the
other being to have time and space to process. What if we all did
more of that with humans - imagine how much we could
accomplish with such peaceful ways.
You want to have some time to process
this. Then call me and we'll talk about
it.

Marketing Molecules Make
Magic
Marketing Molecules get you business.
That's right. Everyone knows that to get business you've
got to feed the pipeline with prospects who have the potential
to become your clients. In order to feed that pipeline, you've
got to stir the atmospheric pot. Here's how it works and it's
just my theory.
When you get out of your comfy, cozy,
and safe office and step out to do the marketing that you know
you "should", network, talk to clients, meet with colleagues
and potential alliance partners on a regular basis, something
interesting happens. You get business. Maybe it doesn't
happen right away. But it happens. And when it does, the
more you market, the more business you have. I call it
Marketing Molecules© It's the inertia that you create when you
bring interest to what you are doing. Now, you have to
love what you do or the magic doesn't happen. So, no
faking it!

Is Your Leadership Style Right for
these Times?
Maybe leadership isn't a
question that you want to ask yourself. When business is
healthy, it may be inertia that simply makes it go
well. It may be your company provides the right stuff at
the right time at the right price. More likely, it was
your personal influence on the direction of the organization
and your style that made the difference. If you are the
kind of person who wonders why things in your organization are
not going the way you want them to, perhaps it's time to look
no further than yourself. A good look in the mirror at
your leadership style will give you a start
at the answers.
Simplistically, there are three types of leadership
styles. Each one of them has a place in your
organization at the right time. That's the key to this
discussion. Each leadership style
is useful and beneficial to your organization, but any
leadership style at the wrong time can result
in disaster rather than success. To take a fresh start,
begin by understanding the differences and appreciating the
right attitude for your situation. Go
grab a notepad - let's take some notes.

- Expect only exceptional work when you create an
